Classical tujectory calculations for a model of 12 scattering from a surface show that in hi~h-xtergy collisions the amount of translational energy trancferred to rotation geatlv exceeds the amount transferred to vibration\_ The sudden approximation is used to qualitative& interpret the results.

## OMS Letters Dear Sir The Collision-induced Emission of Radiation: Lifetimes of Excited States Formed in the Collision-induced Dissociation (CID) Process and the Excitation of Target Gas Molecules We have recently begun the investigation of radiation emitted by fast (8 keV), mass-selected ions
The rotational spectrum of the ground state, the excited \(A\) states \(\nu_{3}, 2 \nu_{3}\) and probably \(\nu_{2}\), and the lowest \(E\) state \(v_{6}\) of \(\mathrm{CH}^{35} \mathrm{Cl}_{3}\) have been measured. The ground state microwave spectrum was analyzed to obtain nuclear quadrupole coupli
The rotational analysis in the ground vibrational state has been carried out for CH 3 D by using the ground state combination differences. More than 1500 allowed and 2500 forbidden transitions from the fundamental bands 3 , 5 , and 6 were used to determine 12 rotational parameters, which reproduce t
