Tbe effect of stress frequency on fatigue crack initiation in 99.5% pure titanium plate, which has remarkable strain rate dependence in the plastic region and notable orthotropy, was studied. Fatigue crack initiation tests were carried out under three kinds of stress frequencies (0.2, 1 and 20 Hz).

Until recently, the one-parameter singular expression for stresses near a crack-tip was widely thought to be sufficiently accurate over a reasonable region for any geometry and loading conditions. This view has been fast changing due to the growing evidence that the inclusion of higher order terms c
Ahatraet-In the present paper, a way to obtain an accurate stress-strain curve of a ductile material under large plastic deformation (include necking) by tracing the experimental tensile loading-axial displacement curve using computer simulation is suggested. According to this method, the tested loa
Abslraet-In this paper the crack initiation under stress-assisti diffusion is studied. Around the crack-tip a core region is developed by the stress-assisted dflusion. This core region is a strongIy brittle area which depends on the sum of the principal stresses at the crack-tip and on phenomenologi
