✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A self‐made low‐pressure device (up to 100 psi) for hydrodynamic cavitation was tested with the reaction of BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes) in water. Experimental parameters, such as inlet pressure, solution temperature, and concentration of the chosen substrates, as well as the effect of different restrictions were investigated. The energy efficiency of the process was measured in comparison to two acoustic cavitation systems (24 and 850 kHz). The products of the BTEX degradation were identified and a pyrolytic degradation pathway is concluded.

## Abstract In this investigation, a self‐made low pressure device (up to 100 psi) for creating hydrodynamic cavitation was optimized by using the Weissler reaction. Optimal upstream pressure for the reaction was obtained for a single line system (without bypass) as 29 psi. The effects of the centr
