β¦ Synopsis
We have prepared thin films of YBCO on Si (100) and on Si with Ag-buffer layer by DC-magnetron sputtering. Post-deposition annealing at 7173K was necessary in order to obtain superconducting films. The films on silicon have no superconducting transition down to 50k. The films on silicon with Ag-buffer layer have a broad superconducting transition with Tonset=95K and Tco=~~K. The X-ray diffraction studies show that films are oriented with c-axis perpendicular to the substrate. The critical current density for these films is aboat 10,000 A/sq.cm-at 77K.
