## Abstract Withaferin A, a steroidal lactone with carcinostatic properties, isolated from the leaves of Withania somnifera Dun., produced a mitotic arrest in the metaphase of dividing Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cells. In addition this compound also induced vacuolization of the cytoplasm. A single d
