The crystallization of sodium birnessite (III) and accompanying phase transformations are studied by XRD, IR and SEM. The synthesis procedure contains three steps: formation of Mn(OH) 2 , oxidation of Mn(OH) 2 to a MnOx suspension by KMnO 4 and aging of the MnOx suspension to form birnessite. The cr
