β¦ Synopsis
The structure of the cation-de5cient Ba 4.0(1) Ce 0.98(3) Nb 10 O 30 barium cerium reduced niobate with a tetragonal tungsten bronze (TTB) type structure was re5ned from X-ray single crystal data (tetragonal, a β«Ψβ¬ 12.508(2) A s , c β«Ψβ¬ 3.9328(4) A s , S. G. P4/mbm, Z β«Ψβ¬ 1, R β«Ψβ¬ 0.019, R w β«Ψβ¬ 0.023). It was found that rare earth substitution for Ba is accompanied by formation of vacancies in A sites. Vacancies were preferably formed in the A(1) cavities in the structure.
