✦ Synopsis

The structure of the complex oxide Li 3 CuSbO 5 was determined by single-crystal X-ray di4raction at 0.71-A > resolution in space group P1 ; a ‫؍‬ 5.1598( 6), b ‫؍‬ 5.3798(7), c ‫؍‬ 7.7953(10) A > , ‫؍‬ 105.523(9), ‫؍‬ 102.419(9), ‫؍‬ 103.411(10)3, V ‫؍‬ 193.74 (4) A > 3 , Z ‫؍‬ 2, R 1 ‫؍‬ 2.41% for 955 re6ections having I > 2 (I) and wR 2 ‫؍‬ 5.22% for 1107 independent re6ections. The observed structure is based on close packing layers of oxide ions and is related with that of rock salt.
