The Fourier transform-infrared and Raman spectra of the two mercury orthorasenates were recorded and assigned on the basis of their structural characteristics and are discussed in comparison with related compounds.
The reaction between mercury(II)chloride and 2,6-pyridinedimethanol provides a molecule with the empirical formula [Hg 3 (H 2 pdm) 2 -(Hpdm) (l-Cl) 2 Cl 3 ], whose crystal and molecular structure has been studied: a β«Χ‘β¬ 10.640(1), b β«Χ‘β¬ 10.818(2), c β«Χ‘β¬ 13.159(2) A Λ, β£ β«Χ‘β¬ 88.480(5), b β«Χ‘β¬ 75.067(4
