Cooperative strong negatively charged and neutral O-H⋅⋅⋅O as well as weak charge-assisted C-H ⋅⋅⋅O hydrogen-bonding interactions have been utilized for the crystal engineering of organometallic Fe /Co and Fe /Cr sandwich complexes. A section of the structure of [(η -C H ) Cr] {[(η -C H COOH)(η -C H COO)Fe][(η -C H COOH) Fe] } is shown in the picture.
