Crystal and Molecular Structure of 3/3-hydroxy-5~-estr-8(14)-en-17-one The title compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P2,2,2, with 4 formula units C,,H,,O, in the unit cell. The lattice constants are a = 10.356(2) A, b = 19.743(3) A, and c = 7.487(1) A. The structure was solved by direct methods of phases determination and refined by least-squares calculations to the conventional R = 0.054. The configuration and conformation of the molecule were determined and compared with those of A-8,14-anhydrodigitoxigenin. Die Titelverbindung kristallisiert in der orthorhornbischen Raumgruppe P2,2,2, mit 4 Formeleinheiten CI8&,O, in der Elementarzelle. Die Gitterkonstanten sind a = 10.356(2) ,8,, b = 19.748(3) A und c = 7.487(1) A. Die Struktur wurde mit direkten Methoden der Phasenbestimmung gelost und mit der Methode der kleinsten Quadrate bis zum R-Wert von 0,054 verfeinert. Die Konfiguration und Konformation des Molekuls wurde mit der Rontgenkristallstrukturanalyse beetimmt und mit der des A-8,14-anhydrodigitoxigenin verglichen.
