β¦ Synopsis
Molal freezing point depression(ATf) of N-methylformamide(NMF), N-methylacetamide(NMA), N-methylpropionamide, N:N-dimethylformamide(DMF), N:N-dimethylacetamide (DMA) and N:N-dimethylpropionamide(DMP) have been determined in benzene by cryoscopic measurements. Molecular weight, degree of association and equilibrium constant have been evaluated from these results. The observed deviations from linear behaviour in AT: versus concentration plots appear to indicate the existence of MONOMER--DIMER equilibrium at almost all concentrations for NME', NMA and NMP compared with the normal linear feature for DMF, DMA and DMP, a novelty which can be explained in terms of hydrogen bonding and which supports our previous conclusions [l] drawn from dielectric measurements.
