✦ Synopsis
The setting-up of cryogenic centres is discussed together with suggested tasks for their future development. These centres should supply all the cryogenic liquids used in the research institute. The staff should help man the liquefaction plant but varying proportions of their time will be spent on original research and development. The type of activities which might be carried out by such a centre is also discussed.

The design engineer has in the past met with some scarcity of data on the transport properties of cryogenic liquids; even for the simplest calculations he has had to resort to crude extrapolations and unreliable estimates. In this paper three transport properties are thoroughly investigated for nine
