โœฆ Synopsis

This text is aimed at primary teachers and trainees who want to establish more creative, imaginative classrooms which reflect the reasons they entered the teaching profession - to spark that flame in young children's minds that shapes their entire time in school. Broad sweeps of the curriculum are addressed, offering: a clear, philosophical rationale for more creative practices in the classroom; examples of current primary practice which transcends the ordinary and mundane; children's work which exemplifies creative work of high quality; and approaches to contemporary planning and organization that facilitate creative teaching and learning. Each section of the book has been written by teacher trainers in conjunction with primary teachers who demonstrate an ability to maintain high standards using creative approaches to the primary curriculum. The result is a persuasive and powerful call to arms for all those working with children who believe there is more to life and more to primary education than photocopied worksheets.
