✦ Synopsis
The authors developed and used the Reviewer Quality Index to rate the performances (i.e., timeliness, thoroughness, and decision congruence) of 20 Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) reviewers during a 3‐year period of evaluating manuscripts. Six reviewer characteristics (gender, degree type, years since degree was awarded, years on the Editorial Board, academic rank, and number of manuscripts reviewed) did not affect the quality of the reviewers' ratings. This indicates that manuscripts submitted to CES are evaluated equitably. The use of quality assessment indices may help to improve and support the integrity of the peer review processes used by professional counseling journals.
