## Abstract Two spin polarized‐band structures of Eu~2~O~2~ with and without considering Coulomb correlation effects are calculated. The exchange potential depending on the fractional spin direction __V__~ex~(__**r**__), locates the 4f bands below the 2p ones, avoiding the 2p‐4f mixing. This fact r
