✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The author presents a review of the influence of quite a number of organic and inorganic compounds on the corrosion of brasses (70/30, 63/37, 60/40) in several acids (nitric, acetic, lactic, malic, phosphoric and hydrochloric acids), sodium hydroxide, potassium persulfate and ammonium chloride. In this context the inhibitor efficiency is considered as a function of the concentration of the medium and a function of inhibitor constitution. Inhibiting mechanisms are dealt with in terms of structure and constitution of the inhibitors used.

## Abstract The carbamate turns out to be a good inhibitor of the corrosion of brass (80/20 and 59/41) in 0.5 N sodium chloride, 1.0 n sodium hydroxide and buffer solutions (NaOH and citric acid, pH 4.4‐6.0). The inhibiting effect depends on inhibitor concentration, so that in some cases corrosion

## Abstract Corrosion inhibition of commercial copper and cold‐worked and annealed α‐brass (Cu/Zn : 69/31) in acid chloride solutions by some 2‐aminothiazole derivatives was studied by weight loss, polarization and capacitance measurements. The study includes the effect of substituent type at posit
