✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Stainless steels commonly used as bipolar plates in PEMFC may corrode and produce metallic ions in anodic and cathodic media. In order to avoid or to limit as low as possible these pollutions, which reduce the fuel cell efficiency, studies are performed to understand occurring phenomena. The characterizations of the different stainless steels behaviour are obtained by means of electrochemical techniques in synthetic solutions representative of anodic and cathodic media.

The localised corrosion resistance (pitting and crevice corrosion) of two high alloy stainless steels, namely superduplex (SD) and superaustenitic (SA), has been studied in chloride-fluoride solutions at pH values ranging from 2 to 6.5. The pitting potential (E pit ) and crevice potential (E cre ) h

In the recent past, the damage caused by rebar corrosion in concrete structures has been considered as one of the major durability problems affecting the service life of concrete structures. In order to prevent corrosion of steel reinforcement, various types of protective methods have been adopted.

Glass-bead blasted stainless steel sheets are used in recent time for many applications in architecture or design of machines. If chloride can be accumulated on the surface, glass-bead blasted stainless steel show a worse corrosion behaviour than ground stainless steel. The corrosion behaviour of gl
