✦ Synopsis

Reaction between aluminium 2-methoxyethoxide and 2,2'-anhydro-1-fl-D-arabinofuranosyluracil 6 gives 2'-O-(2-methoxyethyl)uridine 9 in high yield. Compound 9 is converted into 2'-O-(2-methoxyethyl)cytidine 11 in good yield.
