The conversion of furfuraldehyde and furan on the acid form of the zeolite ZSM-5 was studied over the temperature range 35@45O"C. The homogeneous conversion of furfural yields only a polymeric material which condenses at 150°C. Its catalytic conversion involves decarbonylation to furan and formaldeh
