✦ Synopsis

The syntheses of 7,12-Dioxa-benzo[a]anthracenes bearing in C6 a earboxymethyl group and 5aza analogues are described. The key steps are intramoleeular cyclisations of 3-arylbenzo [ 1,4]dioxin-2diethylcarboxamides and palladium catalysed methoxyearbonylation of aryl triflates.
