โฆ Synopsis
Feeding an alcohol extract of Phyllanthus at a dose of 500 mg/kg for 45 days induced gradual inhibition of fertility potential in male albino mice with a decline in epididymal sperm profiles. However, no effects were observed in gravimetric analysis. Similarly no adverse changes were found in the blood biochemical profile and cell counts. Upon withdrawal of feeding the extract to mice, the observed antifertility effects were reversed gradually, indicating induction of functional sterility.
