A birefringent and highly nonlinear photonic crystal fiber is employed in an Erbium-doped fiber ring laser, which can operate with dual-wavelength lasing or single-wavelength lasing. Both stable dual-wavelength lasing and tunable single-wavelength lasing are achieved by adjusting a polarization cont

β¦ Synopsis
This paper presents an ultra wideband tunable silicabased erbium doped fiber ring laser (EDFRL) that can be continuously tuned in S and C+L bands from 1475 to 1619 nm. It is the first time that a fiber ring laser's tuning range reaches 144 nm using a standard silica-based C-band erbium-doped fiber as gain media. In the laser configuration two isolators are used in the fiber loop for suppressing the ASE in C-band and elevating the lasing gain in S-band. As a result the available lasing wavelength is extended toward the shorter wavelength of the gain bandwidth. The optimized erbium-doped fiber length, output coupling ratio and pumping laser power have been obtained through experimental study. This ring fiber laser has simple configuration, low threshold, flat laser spectral distribution and high signal-to-ASE-noise ratio. The laser will have many potential applications in fiber sensor wavelength interrogation, high-resolution spectroscopy and fiber optic communications.

## Abstract We propose and demonstrate a novel, allβfiber and wavelength tunable Er^3+^/Yb^3+^ coβdoped claddingβpumped fiberβring laser, which utilized amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) as a secondary source so that it can operate in Lβband. The lasing threshold can be reduced to 30% by reflect
The C-band is demonstrated to be suitable for pumping L-band erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) with a broad pumping band. A high power C-band superfluorescent fiber source (SFS) peaked at 1545 nm with output power of 1.86 W is constructed and utilized as pump source for L-band EDFL. Based on this, an
In this investigation, we propose and demonstrate a stable and wavelength-tunable erbium-doped fiber (EDF) ring laser scheme with external-injected Fabry-Perot laser diode (FP-LD) technology, in single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) output behavior. Here, the output power and side-mode suppression ratio (S
A short wavelength band erbium-doped fiber (EDF) ring laser emitting simultaneously at 1488.9 and 1533.9 nm is demonstrated. The erbium-doped gain fiber has a depressed cladding to suppress emission at longer wavelengths. The shorter emitting wavelength is selected by a fiber Bragg grating (FBG), wh
