โœฆ Synopsis

Developing a contingency model based on an airline industry experience

The airline industry involves unusual and complex strategic alliances which make use of a wide range of contractual arrangements.

The proposed alliance between British Airways PLC (BA) and American Airlines (AA) in 1997 was a major test case for international airline regulation, partly because both companies are giants in the markets they serve, and partly because the proposed alliance went well beyond a simple marketing agreement.
