✦ Synopsis

The cover photo shows strains isolated from the former uranium mining site at Ronneburg, Thuringia, Germany. The soil shows high heavy metal loads which enables the investigation of metal resistance mechanisms in cultivated strains. The streptomycetes isolated are specifi cally interesting because of the well known versatility of secondary metabolism in this group of typical soil bacteria.
