Africa's highest mountain provides a habitat for fascinating plant communities. The montane forest belt, with over 1,200 plant species, including more than 100 ferns, has the greatest biodiversity on the mountain. However, more and more of the forest is disappearing due to forest clearing and fires, and the entire ecosystem is under thread from climate change.
