✦ Synopsis

The resistances of Cu, stainless steel, brass, AI, Fe, Ag and Au contacts in liquid nitrogen were measured. The contact resistance in liquid nitrogen was higher than that in air varying from several times to one thousand times greater. The resistance was seen to decrease inversely with an increase of current, but, only the Au contact was very little influenced by cooling.

The change of mass transfer resistance with time has been examined for membrane-based carbon dioxide absorption in water. A commercial polypropylene hollow fiber membrane module was used with gas flow through the lumen side and liquid cross-flow on the shell side. Experiments were carried out for a

Studies of the power dependence of R,/Rv have been made, where R, is the resistance of a carbon resistor in contact with liquid hefium and Rv is the resistance in the vapour at 4.2 K. The results yield a criterion for maximizing this ratio. This criterion is applied to the design of a novel level in
