✦ Synopsis
Studies of the power dependence of R,/Rv have been made, where R, is the resistance of a carbon resistor in contact with liquid hefium and Rv is the resistance in the vapour at 4.2 K. The results yield a criterion for maximizing this ratio. This criterion is applied to the design of a novel level indicator.
