nucleation and the growth rate of sucrose crystals were followed using a photomicroscopic technique. The nuclei created from a sliding contact of a parent crystal on a glass plate were found to grow at constant rates, although each crystal grew at a different rate. This is consistent with the constant crystal growth model of growth rate dispersion. In addition, the variance of the growth rate distribution increased as the square of the average growth rate.
