โฆ Synopsis
The essential oil of Pulicaria gnaphalodes (Vent.) Boiss. from Iran was investigated by GC, GCยฑMS and NMR spectroscopy. Typical for this oil are pinane [chrysanthenone (23), cis-chrysanthenol (34)], cadinane [cadina-1(10),4-dien-8a-ol (114)] and bisabolane derivatives [nuciferol (118), g-curcumen-12-ol (119)]. New, naturally occurring compounds are (Z)-3-methylnon-3-en-2-one ( 43), the so-called helifolen-12-als 94, 95, 98, 99, tricyclic sesquiterpene aldehydes with a helifolane (syn. allo-cedrane or khusiane) skeleton, and the italicen-12-ols 108 and 110. These aldehydes and alcohols are presumably formed by [4 2] resp. [2 2] cycloaddition of the corresponding g-curcumene derivatives.

The composition of the essential oils of Nepeta ispahanica Boiss. and N. binaludensis Jamzad was investigated by means of GC, GCยฑMS and 1 H-NMR spectra of the main compounds. 1,8-Cineole was the most abundant component in both oils: Nepeta ispahanica (66%) and N. binaludensis (42%). However, nepetal
The composition of the essential oils isolated from the aerial parts of Teucrium heterophyllum L'HCr. collected during the flowering period and the vegetative phase of the plant, was analysed by GC and GC-MS. The chemical composition of the essential oils of Salvia nemorosa L. and Salvia reuterana Boiss. growing wild in Iran were examined by GC and GCยฑMS. Thirty-one components were characterized for S. nemorosa with b-caryophyllene (41.6%), germacrene-B (21.3%), caryophyllene oxide (6.8%), cis-b-farnesen
The leaf oils of Baeckea frutescens L., water-distilled from samples obtained from four dierent sites, were analysed by capillary GC and GCยฑMS.
