The hydrodistilled essential oil from the leaves of Cymbopogon citratus Stapf grown in Zambia was analysed by GC and GC±MS. Sixteen compounds representing 93.4% of the oil were identi®ed of which geranial (39.0%), neral (29.4%) and myrcene (18.0%) were the major components. Small amounts of geraniol
