โœฆ Synopsis


This work presents new information on the structure and organization of B hordein genes in the Hor 2 locus of barley. Data obtained by Southern blot analysis and cloning and sequencing of different members of this multigene family are discussed. B hordeins are the major group of seed storage proteins that accumulate in the barley endosperm. Genetic studies and extensive characterization at the protein level showed that they are encoded by a multigene family tightly linked at the Hor 2 locus.
