On behalf of my fellow editors and members of the international Editorial Advisory Board of Human Psychop/zar.macology, I should like to congratulate Professor Paul Turner on being awarded the CBE (Commander of the British Empire) in the Queen's New Year's Honours List. Professor Turner, BSc, MD, BS, FRCP, HonMPS, HonFIBiol, FFPM, is one of the very distinguished members of our Advisory Board. He is Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Honorary Consultant Physician at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London, and, among his many other responsibilities, Chairman of the Committee on Toxicology of Chemicals in Food, the Environment and Consumer Products of the Department of Health and Social Security, Vice-chairman of the British Pharmacopoeia Commission and Editor of Humun Toxicology. He is an author of several important books on pharmacology and the pharmacotherapy of psychiatric disorders and he has published numerous papers on a wide range of pharmacological (including psychopharmacological) topics. Included among these have been the results of his pioneering nork on the role of beta-adrenoceptor blocking drugs in the management of anxiety states and their mechanisms of action. Congratulations, Paul, on a well deserved honour.
