β¦ Synopsis
Electronic absorption spectra of polyaniline (PANI) solutions in a transparent cell were observed to change as the cell gap was reduced to approximately 10 Β΅m. Although the cell gap size was wide enough, at least two orders of magnitude larger than the polymer coils in the solution, the observed changes were explained by self-confinement of polymer molecules at the liquid/solid interface as a result of their intense adsorption and depletion of the relatively small solution volume, respectively. It was shown that the cell material affects electronic spectra of confined polymer solutions. Copyright 2001 Academic Press.

## Abstract **Summary:** The conformational behavior of flexible linear chain polymers confined in cylindrical pores and slab pores has been studied, employing a hardβbead chain model and a modification of a recently proposed recoilβgrowth bias Monte Carlo methodology, which improves the sampling e
The surface morphology of thin bilayer polymer films on top of glass substrates was investigated. The bilayer consists of a blend film of protonated and deuterated polystyrene and an underlying deuterated polystyrene film. Choosing the thickness of the top film larger than 8 times and smaller than 2
## Abstract The impact of the preparation and thermal history on the dynamic glass transition in thin films of poly(methyl methacrylate) and poly(vinyl acetate) is systematically investigated by means of broadband dielectric spectroscopy. Metastable states of glassy dynamics are detected, exhibitin
