β¦ Synopsis
The conductance of potassium iodate in glycerol-water mixtures at 25Β°C in the dielectric constant range 55.6 < D < 18.5 has been measured. The Fuoss-Onsager theory is applied to the conductance data and the characteristic functions are derived. The association constant and the a0 parameter increase as the dielectric constant decreases. The plot of log K* against D-l is not linear, indicating that solvent-separated ion pairs are found in a system characterized by strong hydrogen bonding.
R&sunt&Mesure de la conductivite de l'iodate de potassium dans un melange gly&ine/eau a 25Β°C et pour un domaine de constante dielectrique 556 < D < 78,5. La theorie de Fuoss/Onsager est apphquee & la conductivite et les fonctions caracteristiques en sont dtduites. La constante d'association et le parametre a0 augmentent tandis que la constante dielectrique diminue.
Le trace de log KA en fonction de D-l nest pas lineaire; ceci indique les paires d'ions separees dans le solvant se retrouvent dans un systeme caracterise par une forte liaison hydrogtne.
