The kinetics of the oxidation of water with bismuth(V) in presence of silver(1) has been investigated in a mixture of HC104 (1.0 mol dm-3) and H F (1.5 mol dm-3). The reaction is second order, viz., first order with respect to bismuth(V) and silver(I1, each, and the second order rate constant is (6.
