Abstract
The penetration of water into the grain of a number of wheat varieties at various time intervals after damping was followed using the technique of autoradiography. Significant varietal differences were noted in the rate of water penetration and these were found to relate closely to the milling behaviour of the respective varieties at the various time intervals after damping.
