β¦ Synopsis
The concentration dependence of the sedimentation coefficient has been studied theoretically for a stable magnetic colloidal system under the influence of an external homogeneous magnetic field. The physical model of the magnetic colloid given by Donselaar et al. (1997, Langmuir 13, 6018) was adopted. It was found that the magnetic interaction accelerated the sedimentation of the particles. The stronger the external magnetic field is, the quicker the sedimentation of the particles. For sterically stabilized particles frequently used in experiments to simulate hard spheres, the combined influence of the magnetic attraction and van der Waals attraction on the sedimentation is also analyzed.

## Abstract The simulation method presented in the previous papers is related to the concentrationβdependent sedimentationβdiffusion. It can be shown that the efficiency of the program described previously is maintained. A simulation of a system exhibiting the JohnstonβOgston effect is presented.
Serum ferritins from various sources sedimented at lower densities than tissue ferritins in sucrose gradient centrifugation systems. The sedimentation patterns of ferritins, however, were shown to be dependent on the concentration of the protein; as the concentration decreased the protein appeared t
The AC magnetic susceptibility frequency dependence in the range 10 Hz-10 kHz is used to study concentrated magnetic colloids. Different theoretical and empirical models are used to describe the frequency dependence. The magnetic analogue of the Cole-Cole model is found to be most suitable. Values o
