With the help of Computer Aided Karyotyping procedures, Ag-NOR staining and C-banding techniques, the karyotype of Pyrrhopappus caro#nianus (Asteraceae, Lactuceae) has been studied. The species has 2n = 12 chromosomes. Silver staining reveals that the two shortest pairs of chromosomes possess NOR's.
