The essential oils of leaves and ¯owers of Lantana camara (Verbenaceae) from Cameroon and Madagascar were analysed by GC±FID and GC±MS. The oils are characterized by a high percentage of sesquiterpenes. The major components in the oils from Cameroon are ar-curcumene (25%), b-caryophyllene (13%) and

✦ Synopsis
Three essential oil samples obtained by hydrodistillation from the leaves and ¯owers of Dichrocephala integrifolia (L.) O. Kuntze Chev. collected in dierent localities, were analysed by GC and GC±MS. The plant was poor in essential oil content (0.05%). The three oil samples from Yaounde , Mbalmayo and Bafoussam, respectively, were found to be rich in hydrocarbons, particularly sesquiterpenes (63%, 71% and 63%), with germacrene-D (30%, 37% and 35%) as the major component. The oil samples from the forest zones of Yaounde and Mbalmayo were not markedly dierent from the sample from Bafoussam in the savannah zone.
