Abstract
The desilked silkworm pupae (Bombyx mori L.) collected from Kollegala, Malavalli and Ramanagaram belt of Karnataka State (South India) were extracted with chloroform : methanol = 2:1 (v/v). The oil was fractionated on activated silica gel column into neutral, glycoβ and phospholipids. The fractions of glycoβ and phospholipid;; were saponified seperately. The saponifiable fractions were analysed for fatty acids and unβsaponifiable fractions for sterols. The glycolipid fraction contains mainly oleic, palmitic, stearic, palmitoleic, linolenic, linoleic, arachidic, myristic and lauric acids. Phospholipids had similar fatty acids, however their proportions were varying. Traces of cholesterol were observed in the unsaponifiables of glycolipids, which was absent in phospholipids.

## Abstract Cellular retinoic acid binding protein (CRABP) is a member of intracellular lipidβbinding protein (iLBP), and closely associated with retinoic acid (RA) activity. We have cloned the CRABP gene from silkworm pupae and studied the interaction between __Bombyx mori__ CRABP (BmCRABP) and al
The objective of the present study was to analyze the nutritional composition of Bombyx mori (L.) chrysalis (worm) toast. The results have revealed that this sub-product of the silk thread industry is a rich source of protein (51.1%); lipid (34.4%); essential fatty acids such as the linolenic acid (
