## Abstract A number of compounds of general formula M(PPO)~__n__~X~2~ are described, the metal ion being Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) and the anions Cl^−^, Br^−^, I^−^, NO~3~^−^, ClO~4~^−^ and NCS^−^; PPO stands for 2,5‐diphenyloxazole and __n__ = 1, 2, 4. The complexes are prepared by reaction of t
