✦ Synopsis

An electrochemical study by means of voltammetric and polarographic methods of complexes formed between Zn(II) and Tris buffer solution has been carried out.

The type of complex species in aqueous solutions have been found to depend upon the medium. Details about structure and stability of the species have been obtained.

The effect of different concentrations of copper or zinc on the anaerobic biodegradability of sludge has been investigated. An attempt has been made to correlate the metal forms with the performance of the digester. The presence of organically-bound copper is indicative of the deteriorated condition
