Tumor necrosis factor-rY(TNF-a) is a mediator of liver injury. The objective of this study was to develop an in vitro model of TNF-mediated liver cell injury using the Hep G2 cell line. Hep G2 cells normally are insensitive to TNF' cytotoxicity, but they were rendered susceptible, or sensitized, to

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is an important mediator of many biological processes. This study sought to develop a sensitive bioassay allowing quantitative determination of TNF. The assay is based on uptake of the membrane impermeant dye, propidium iodide, by L929 cells when their viability is lost.
