✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this paper, we present a novel combline filter using periodically loaded resonators. A resonator with a periodic N‐disk mounted onto its inner conductor is used as novel combline resonator. A significantly improved Q factor is achieved within the same volume of the conventional combline resonator. An example of a two‐pole combline filter is designed. Simulation and experimental results are presented. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 40: 189–191, 2004; Published online in Wiley InterScience (www.interscience.wiley.com). ## Abstract A compact coplanar waveguide (CPW) band‐pass filter using a cross‐coupled λ/4 resonator with loaded split‐ring resonators (SRRs) is introduced in this letter. The proposed filter exhibits a quasi‐elliptic function response and its circuit size occupies only 12 × 11.8 mm^2^ (≈0.21λ~g~ ×
