Based on the use of 2-[2-(7H-dibenzo[a,g]carbazol-7-yl)-ethoxy] ethyl chloroformate (DBCEC-Cl) as a sensitive pre-column derivatization reagent, a simple method for evaluating the chemical compositions of the hydrolyzed protein from the cicada nymphs has been developed. ✦ Synopsis
A highly sensitive fluorescence reaction for amino acids using o-phthalaldehyde and 2-mercaptoethanol permits the detection of amino acids separated on small ion-exchange columns. The advantages are: (I) good precision at the level of 0.5 nmole; (2) high speed due to the smaller height of the column; and (3) linear relationship between meter response and amino acid concentration.
The same reaction is also applicable to amino sugars.

A highly resolving triple-column amino acid analyzer with fluorometric detection is described. The reliability of this technique was evaluated and it was used in a baseline investigation of amino acids and related compounds in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The procedure employs three distinct ion
