## Abstract A possible solution for the regeneration of NAD^+^ from NADH is the oxidation of NADH with concomitant reduction of oxygen catalyzed by NADH oxidase (E. C. 1.6.‐.‐). We employ NADH oxidase from __Lactobacillus sanfranciscensis__, which reduces O~2~ to innocuous H~2~O, and (__R__)‐alcoho

## Abstract We have successfully applied the sequence comparison‐based approach to develop a peroxidase (gene AhpC) and a water‐forming NADH oxidase from __Lactococcus lactis__ (__L. lactis__). We found a considerably lower maximum specific activity of nox‐1 (AhpF) (15 U/mg) from __L. lactis__ comp
