✦ Synopsis

Zwitterion copolymerization without initiator of a-bromoacrylic acid as an electrophilic monomer with 2-methyl-2-oxazoline or 2-ethyl-2-oxazoline as a nucleophilic monomer was investigated. The copolymerizations were performed under various experimental conditions. Copolymers were characterized by i.r. and )H-NMR as well as elemental analysis. Molecular weights were between 800 and 2300 g mol-t by vapour pressure osmometry. There were also studies of the effects of solvent polarity on the yield and on the copolymer composition.
