✦ Synopsis

These results (Table 2) indicate a moderately constant ARM value forstructure element CID ringsandside chain in eachseriesof5acholestane derivatives. The difference between the ARM values for CID rings and side chain in both series of compounds deserves further comment. According to Dreiding models of the investigated epoxides and enolic diketones, the latter have the more planar structures and therefore allow a closer approach of the nonpolar parts of the molecules to the adsorptive surface. This closer approach should result in stronger binding of these parts of the molecules to the adsorbent, leading to a greater contribution of CID rings and side chain to the retention behavior of the enolic 1,3-dicarbonyl-5a-cholestane derivatives.

## Abstract The performance of graphitized glass capillary columns obtained by precoating the inner glass walls with graphitized carbon black has been evaluated. Polydiethylene glycol adipate (DEGA) has been successfully used as stationary phase for residue analysis by glass capillary gas chromatography. A specially stabilized version of the phase yields a good polar column which is stable up to 25OOC when used in temperature programmed cycles. The paper lis

It is well known that removal of metal ionsfrom the glass surface greatly improves both the thermal stability and the adsorption characteristics of glass capillary columns.Usually metal ions are removed from a glass surface by acid leaching; in particular, the static leaching procedure with hydrochl

## Abstract Recent attempts to reproduce a literature method for etching of Pyrex glass capillary columns with β€žetching ether”︁ resulted in reduction of the columns to dust through a violent explosion. Although modifications of the method produced etched columns, we found that less than satisfactor
