## Abstract Static ammonia etching has been used to effect regular surface roughening of glass capillaries. Following such treatment, polar phases could be coated after persilylation with varioussilylation agents such as hexamethylβ, tetramethyldiphenylβ, and tetraβ phenyldimethyldisilazane, respec

Abstract
Recent attempts to reproduce a literature method for etching of Pyrex glass capillary columns with βetching etherβοΈ resulted in reduction of the columns to dust through a violent explosion. Although modifications of the method produced etched columns, we found that less than satisfactory results were achieved. Introduction of etching ether by simply coating the column with a thin film of the ether produced an evenly etched column with well defined whiskers. Several observations made during the etching process will also be discussed.

## Abstract The performance of graphitized glass capillary columns obtained by precoating the inner glass walls with graphitized carbon black has been evaluated. It has been shown that according to the amount of stationary phase coated such columns can operate in gasβliquidβsolid chromatography and
It is well known that removal of metal ionsfrom the glass surface greatly improves both the thermal stability and the adsorption characteristics of glass capillary columns.Usually metal ions are removed from a glass surface by acid leaching; in particular, the static leaching procedure with hydrochl

Polydiethylene glycol adipate (DEGA) has been successfully used as stationary phase for residue analysis by glass capillary gas chromatography. A specially stabilized version of the phase yields a good polar column which is stable up to 25OOC when used in temperature programmed cycles. The paper lis
